Welcome
I find the best way to develop templates is to deploy them. This site is my testing ground for templates I have converted at one point in time or another. All of the templates on this site run on MODx 0.9.6.x and are fully functional. If you want to get an idea how a template will work once deployed then check this site! Yea, I could go just upload the original templates, but that defeats the point of testing them!
You may find the information on this site dry and well missing... Well, it's a testing site so I just want/need filler content. I am using the classic filler text known as Lorem Ipsum which is based in some old text from like the 1500s or something crazy. If you want to find out more I suggest looking at the site I use to get the text www.lipsum.com.
I try to test all templates in all browsers and in some cases retest them as new browsers are released. This takes time so if you see problems please save me some time and let me know! The conversions typically take a day as I try to unify the support for different code to ensure all the standard tags have styling. I also test all templates and correct any problems at the time. These templates are typically more refined than the original version, but in some cases the creators do a great job and I can finish templates sooner. The entire conversion process includes the actual conversion, testing, enhancing, getting screenshots, adding the demo, and finally adding them to the MODx site.
That means there is no real, practical, or useful information on this site other than a bunch of templates with some generic filler content to show off some of the ways you can use these templates to the fullest.
Browser Testing
I make a point to test these templates on all browers via screenshot, but in addition I do local testing using most if not all of these browsers. This testing enables me to check drop-down menus as found on some templates.
- Firefox 3.x
- Internet Explorer 6
- Internet Explorer 7
- Internet Explorer 8
You forgot to test ____ browser! Technically I didn't it was likely tested via screenshot as I have neither the time or will to test additonal browsers. If you want me to check a template using another browser I will be happy to do so, but it will cost you. I suggest you just view the screenshots for that template as they are free.
I will not take the time to support any of the follow browsers as well they are a security risk to the user and should be replaced. If you wish to fix any issues for these browsers I will be happy to include the corrections, but I will not attempt to fix them. They release new software for a reason... My sanity!
- Internet Explorer 5.5 or less(PC/MAC)
- Netscape (It's dead move on.)
- Firefox 2.x or less (They should be fine)
- WebTV (Still in use?)
- Other old browsers
